What Is Rehabilitation? 800-303-2482

In basic terms, rehabilitation refers to the process by which a patient’s health is refurbished to its previous or healthy state. Rehabilitation aims at helping the patient to cope with physical damage (through education) that cannot be repaired or restoring function to a damaged part of the body at least to some extent. To put it in other words, the main aim of rehabilitation is to help individuals to achieve optimal health and quality of life under the given circumstances. Types of Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation can be of two types mainly physical and emotional. Individuals who have been involved in an accident or have undergone major surgery generally go in for physical rehabilitation. In this form of rehabilitation, the patient is offered physical therapy to recover as much physical strength as possible.

For instance, the trained staff may offer therapy with the objective of helping the patient to regain the strength of their legs in case these have been damaged in an accident. Physical rehabilitation can also help individuals with amputated limbs to carry on their normal activities through the effective use of their remaining limbs.
